Ram’s TRX Returns as the Apex Predator with 777 Horses

When that last Stellantis CEO, who shall not be named, decided it was a brilliant idea to send the iconic Hemi V-8 engine, we Americans lost several legendary automobiles. One that faced extinction for the second time was the TRX. Ram’s high-powered off-roader produced 702hp out of its supercharged 6.2L Hemi engine, but Tavares thought, “nah.” And with the introduction of the 3.0L Hurricane engine, the Hemi was no more.

2025 brought common sense back to Ram and the entire American lineup. Tim Kuniskis returned as the brand’s CEO and promised the return of the brand to the forefront of the American truck market. First, Tim brought the Hemi back for the 2025 model year. Next, he announced that Ram would return to NASCAR’s Craftsman Truck Series. Now, the return of the Apex predator, the TRX.

“We started 2025 with a simple rallying cry—three words and three letters: The Last Tenth and LFG. Our first moves were clear: revive the legendary HEMI V-8 and reignite the SRT Performance Division. So, would anyone really bet against TRX making a comeback?” said Kuniskis.

Return of the Rex, with 75 More Horses

For 2027, Ram’s all-new TRX will take the reins as the most powerful production pickup truck in history. The TRX’s 6.2L Supercharged Hemi V-8 will now make 777 horsepower while producing 680 lb-ft of torque. For the first time in nearly 20 years, a Ram will also carry the SRT badge, a first since the Viper Powered SRT-10. That extra 75hp will be sent to all four wheels via Ram’s TorqueFlight eight-speed transmission.

Performance numbers? Yeah, we know that’s what you came here for. How about a 3.5-second 0-60 time and a best-in-class 118 mph top speed?

That Interior Tho

Climb inside, and you’ll be greeted by unexpected luxury. Have a seat behind the leather-wrapped heated steering wheel, and you’ll be resting on heated and ventilated 12-way power front seats featuring massaging functionality. The rear seats have heat and ventilation, plus the class-exclusive reclining feature.

All seating surfaces are wrapped in black Natura Plus leather with suede inserts and red bolstering, for a bold appearance, with red TRX logos on the seatbacks. Red contrast stitching extends forward as well, surrounding the hand-wrapped dashboard, door panels, and center armrest, and Ruby Red seatbelts that finish off the interior.

The 2027 TRX also takes a few bits from the ultra-luxurious Tungston trim, borrowing the leather-wrapped airbag cover, a full-suade headliner, and suade-wrapped visors. On the opposite end of the spectrum, the interior features genuine carbon fiber trim that frames the digital instrument cluster, covers the upper glovebox lid, and accents the leather-trimmed door panels and rear console endcap.

The 2027 TRX evolves with second-gen Bilstein Black Hawk e2 adaptive shocks that originally debuted on the Ram RHO. Ram Active Terrain Dynamics that adjusts traction and stability control behaviors to work with the Black Hawk e2 suspension. Suspension travel on the front axle will be 13″ with 14″ of maximum rear suspension travel, allowing those standard 35″ tires to fly and guide them to a composed landing.
